Sports Captains 2009
Sports Captains announced on 5 December Parade.
BK Medallions
The BK (Boxing Kangaroo) medallions are based on values, not necessarily sporting performance, and are part of the AOC a.s.p.i.r.e. program. The acronym stands for attitude, sportsmanship, pride, individual responsibility, respect, express yourself.
In keeping within the sporting umbrella, we decided to award the medallions to students who contributed in some way to the physical activity initiatives at school. The recipients are Billy, Zian, Sam, Philip and Corey, who were presented with their medallions at Parade last Friday. These boys have consistently helped with our Smart Moves equipment around the school. (Visit the BK Zone website to see the boys helping out).
Several other students have also helped on various occasions for which we are thankful. Special mention to Lauren and Imogen and our House Leaders in charge of the equipment at play times. Thank you to all of our student volunteers.
Japanese Assessment of Language Competence Certificates
Thirty-six students from our school entered this Australia-wide competition for students learning Japanese. Most sat for a listening test –‘Japanese Certificate 1’against students in Year 6, 7 and 8. Seven students did a listening and a reading test usually taken by Year 10 students – ‘Japanese Certificate 2’.
