Year 5W completed acrostic poems including their reflections on Anzac Day and Simpson and Duffy (his donkey).
Australian men risked their lives
Nice helpful people
Zzzz, bang! Went the bullets out of guns
Anniversary 25 April each year
Clever soldiers fought in war
Duffy the donkey carried the sick on his back
Australia and New Zealand participated as a team
Yearly we remember. By Ashleigh
Australian soldiers fought at war on the 25 April
Never give up at war
Zigzagging wasn’t tricky for Simpson with injured soldiers
Australia never gives up
Citizens were brave to go to war
Days were tragic for our soldiers
And that day changed people’s lives forever
Years we’ve celebrated this day. By Conor
Australian soldiers never gave up
Nor did they sleep well at night
Zigzagging through dead bodies
And burying them at night
Carrying dead bodies more by day
Day and night were as bad as each other
And by day it was as if it would never finish
Years passed and nothing changed.
