We have a Special Needs Committee that meets weekly to discuss referrals to the following services:
- Special Education Unit
- Learning Support
- Guidance Officer
- Student Welfare
Learning Support provides services for students with learning disabilities/difficulties.
SEU provides services ONLY for Ascertained or Profiled students. The Education Adjustment Program is being phased in over the next two years to determine the provision of resources for students with disabilities. The following categories are recognised by Education Queensland.
- II Intellectual Impairment
- ASD Autistic Spectrum Disorder
- SLI Speech and Language Impairment
- HI Hearing Impairment
- PI Physical Impairment
- VI Visual Impairment
We began profiling students in 2005. Teacher input is vital to the EAP process. Students with disabilities have a fundamental right to be educated alongside their peers and to benefit from the social, cultural, sporting and educational interaction with their peers. At the same time, some students are learning to accept difference in others.
