Coolum State School
Responsible Behaviour Plan for Students
Rationale
Education Queensland is committed to provisions that ensure all young Queenslanders have a right to and receive a quality education.
At Coolum State School, our aim is to create the conditions for each learner to progress towards responsible self-management, whilst learning about how and why people behave the way they do. Because we focus on catering for individual differences, we realise that all children will move towards this goal at their own pace and that they will also have individual needs along the way.
The use of a non-coercive approach that builds relationships, encourages self-evaluation and focuses on quality is evident in all we do.
Our major goal is to facilitate the development of the whole child, ie physically, cognitively, emotionally, and socially and commit ourselves to assisting each child to acquire the skills necessary to have healthy relationships, sound values, strong self-esteem and effective communication.
In response to these expressed values, Coolum State School is committed to providing an inclusive curriculum that will enhance and foster the knowledge and skills of the students. This is so they may become happy, confident, self-managed, socially responsible and positive contributors, not only within the Coolum community but also capable, independent citizens of the global community.
The Responsible Behaviour Management Plan for Students was developed in conjunction with staff and parents and ratified at a general meeting of the Coolum State School P&C Association.
