During the school year, it may be necessary for your child to have medication administered during school hours.
It is vital that parents complete a “Medication Form” available at the school office when delivering their child’s medication.
Medication MUST be in the original container which is labelled with the doctor’s name and dosage instructions.
Non-prescribed oral medications (such as analgesics and over-the-counter medications eg Panadol) must not be administered by teachers or other persons on the school staff.
MEDIC ALERTS
Students who have a condition that requires monitoring throughout the school day have a Medic Alert at Coolum State School. The medic alert clearly outlines their condition and their personal needs as sanctioned by their parents. Medic Alerts are reviewed every 12 months.
In emergency situations, school personnel may be required to administer medication to preserve the life, safety and health of a student. These emergencies may occur for students with
diabetes, epilepsy, anaphylaxis and asthma.
Parents are to instruct the school of their express wishes for the treatment of their child whilst on site at Coolum School. It remains the responsibility of the parent/caregiver to provide written information, correctly labelled medication and medical updates to the school administration.
